HIFA Dreaming

So we couldn’t make it to HIFA (Harare International Festival of the Arts) this year, but we still can’t stop talking about how amazing this annual festival is, (one of the Highlights of being Zimbabwean in our opinion!) The theme for this year is Switch On, and we hear they are set to do just that with the ever popular musician JahPrayzah as opening act on one of the main stages. The theme simply their call for us all to “switch on the light in the darkness. Using the flash point of the arts to see our lives as Zimbabweans in a new way.”

The festival runs from the 29th to 5th of May, and will feature artists Freshly Ground and ToyaDeLazy as well, look out for more pics and news on this event!

A Scribe Called Tswa

“With a Pen
A child will come to understand the meaning in their name
A tribe will retrace their pathway to the beginning of their totem
A people might preserve their culture for tomorrow’s generations
A simple prophecy in graffiti on a city wall some rock paintings”

Besides having a cool name to go by, Tswarelo Mothobe, A.K.A. A Scribe Called Tswa, has so much talent he has been recognised by sites as big as World hip Hop Market as an artist worth looking out for. We hope his poetry inspires you as much as it moves us!

ICAfrican Students: The Refreshingly Beautiful campaign.

One of the most refreeshing Social Media Campaigns we have come across so far, from Ithaca college, African students are using great photography and gorgeous pictures to break stereotypes. We first found them on twitter and could not resist sending them a message to let them know how much their work is appreciated, you should do the same https://twitter.com/ICAfrican

"Africans do not all look alike."

“Africans do not all look alike.” “Africans do not all look alike.”

"Is that the Zimbabwean flag we see? Nice!"
